I was in Church a few weeks ago and one of the ministers was speaking on the woman with the issue of blood, Matthew 9:20. He said that she did something radical by going into the crowd to touch the garment of Jesus. That was true but from whose perspective? As I was leaving after the service this came to me. She didn’t think it was radical. I am sure that most everyone else did. So, what was different about her thinking? We see part of this in Verse 21 (“For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be well.”). This shows that she had spent some time thinking about it and after weighing this out, you can see that she was so convinced that she did it! Mark 5:27 (“When she heard of Jesus came in the crowd and behind and touched his garment”) Romans 10”17 (“Faith cometh by hearing, and by the word of God”).  This is not the only place in the Bible that talks about this. Look in Matthew 14:35-36 (“and when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all the country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased” and 36 “and besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment and as many as touched were made perfectly well.”). Is this what she was thinking about?  Is this what she heard about Jesus? Is this what so changed her thinking that she was willing to risk death to get to Jesus? Did she think this was radical? We may never know this side of Heaven what she was thinking exactly but you can see that she was so convinced by what she heard that nothing else mattered. For her, the only thing that mattered was that she had to get to Jesus. It was her faith that touched Jesus, that out of all the people that was touching him she was the only one that got his attention. “So, we can see what moves Jesus, faith”. Faith in what? For her it was what she heard about Jesus and she took that for herself and acted on it and got what she came for and it so moved Jesus that he recognized that her faith touched him. She didn’t even ask him she just took it and it moved the Master.

Dear friends it’s the same today. By faith you touch the Master and you can hear about him in his word. So when you have a need, find the answer in God’s word and meditate on it until it’s the only logical thing to do is to act on it. Acting in faith is just acting as if the word of God is true. It’s truer than the circumstances that you can see in your life. You can see this in 1 John 5.14-15. (“and this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us”) So what is His will? It’s in His word, so when you find the answer to your need in His word and speak that over your situation you can be assured that God will hear you. He said he would. But wait it gets better in the next verse 15: (“And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of him”).  So, go and be radical in the world’s eyes and take everything that God has promised in His word. But for you it won’t seem radical; it will just be the only logical thing to do!
